Coastal cruising - West
1.5 hr cruise – Visit the Seals / Seals at Sunset
Our popular trip to the west of Ilfracombe takes you along the coast of the town, past the Victorian Tunnels Beaches and the soaring Torrs to Rockham Bay, the regular hauling out spot for the local seal colony. You’ll see the small village of Lee and the imposing buildings of the Bull Point lighthouse, warning ships of the perils of the hidden rocks of Morte Point. On your journey, you’ll have commentary from your skipper including local points of interest, tales of wrecks and wreckers and lifeboat shouts to rescue, among others, sheep who sometimes find their way down the cliffs to the beaches below.
A glorious end to any summer’s day, our Seals at Sunset cruise takes you down the Channel to visit the seals at Rockham as the sun begins to go down. Then enjoy the glorious uninterrupted view of the sun setting over Lundy in the distance as you cruise back to Ilfracombe. These very popular trips are only possible a few times throughout the season, so book your tickets quickly – before they run out!
2 hr cruise – Woolacombe Bay
This trip continues on from Rockham and the seals, around the perilous rocks that surround the Morte Stone and takes you in to see the golden sands of the award winning Woolacombe Beach, voted Britain’s Best Beach for several years running. A relaxing and enjoyable cruise that will introduce you to some of the highlights of the North Devon coast.
You might well spot the seabirds, including gulls, gannets and guillemots, nesting on the cliffs as you pass, and our passengers regularly spot the tell-tale dorsal fins of porpoise and even dolphins as they cruise. On warm days, you might even spot a seal or two basking on the rocks that rise out of the water.
All of our cruises (unless specified) are round trips with no option to disembark until the vessel arrives back at Ilfracombe. Transfers between harbours may be arranged privately by contacting us, and may be advertised on our website and social media pages if available.
