Cruise & Fish - Taste of the Coast
2.5 hr experience – Seals and Mackerel fishing
A trip we trialled in 2017, it was so popular that we've decided to bring it back and add it to our regular schedule for the summer!
You'll have the chance to Visit the Seals on the sights half of this cruise, and have a go at Mackerel fishing for the rest of the time. Approximately 1 hour is dedicated to the journey down to Rockham, near Woolacombe, where the Seals often grace to rocks and gulleys with their presence around the lower parts of the tide, and the rest of the time you'll spend fishing for mackerel (and whatever else you can find!).
The fishing will take place a good distance away from the seals' home, to keep the mammals safe as possible from the fishing lines, so there will be a bit of cruising between the first and second parts of the trip - just enough time for our experienced crew to tell you all about local points of interest, wrecks and rescues, and to give you a bit of tuition about how to go about getting the most out of your fishing experience.
For anyone who doesn't fancy fishing but would like to join the trip, that's no problem - you'll be able to enjoy the coast while the rest try out their rods, and you'll be in charge of seeking out the coastal bird and wildlife of the Channel. Just let everyone know if you spot anything exciting!
All of our cruises (unless specified) are round trips with no option to disembark until the vessel arrives back at Ilfracombe. Transfers between harbours may be arranged privately by contacting us, and will be advertised on our website and social media pages if available.
